In Memory of J. Dawes McGrady (1925-1994)
Jordan Dawes McGrady was the manager for 42 years at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel. He served as manager from its opening in 1952 until his retirement on October 1, 1994. Dawes and his wife Ruth Sue made their home upstairs in this funeral home for many years following their marriage. Mr. McGrady was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hillsville, had previously served on the Board of Directors at Nations Bank in Hillsville and was an active member and past president of the Hillsville Rotary Club. He was also a recipient of the Paul Harris Award. The New Chapel at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady is dedicated to the Memory of Jordan Dawes McGrady.

Tony R. Mullins

Tony R. Mullins, manager and funeral service provider at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, was born in Alexandria, VA and grew up in Pound, Virginia. He graduated from Pound High School and Mid American College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, IN. Mr. Mullins moved to Carroll County in 1986. He and his wife Tilda still live in the Hillsville area, as do their children and grandchildren. Mr. Mullins is a member of the First Untied Methodist Church in Hillsville where he has served, and continues to serve, on various committees. He is also an active member of the Hillsville Lions Club. Tony has been employed with Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel since 1986. He was appointed manager of Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in March of 2016.

Marsha Caudill, office manager at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, was born in Stuart, Virginia. She grew up in the Meadows of Dan section of Carroll County and graduated from Carroll County High School. Marsha also graduated from Wytheville Community College and has Associate Degrees in Accounting and Business Management. She and her husband Tracy live in Laurel Fork. Mrs. Caudill is an active member of Green Mountain Baptist Church where she serves as treasurer for the youth group. Marsha has been employed with Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel since 2004.

Dale Shockley

Dale Shockley, funeral staff at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady was born in Radford, Virginia and lives in the Coon Ridge section of Carroll County with his wife, Heather and their children. He was a 1988 graduate of Carroll County High School and was a supervisor at Paxar Label Company for 15 years. Mr. Shockley has attended numerous seminars relating to management. He is a member of Dalton Hill Christian Church in Coon Ridge. Dale began working for Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel part-time in 2006 after the closing of Paxar and has been employed full-time since March of 2008. Mr. Shockley is a certified crematory operator and manages the day to day operations of the crematory since it's opening in 2016.

She graduated from Carroll County High School in 2021, and from Mid-America Mortuary College in 2024 with an Associates Degree in Mortuary Sciences. She and her husband, Hunter live in Hillsville. She is a member of Hillsville Pentecostal Holiness Church, and enjoys reading and spending time outdoors. Kassidy has been employed with Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady since 2023.

Brandon Kendrick, funeral service staff and intern, was born in Winston Salem and raised in Carroll County. He attended Carroll County High School and is currently enrolled at Brightpoint Community College in the Funeral Services Program. He and his wife, Caroline live in Hillsville with their boys and attend the First Baptist Church. He has been employed with Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel since August of 2023.

Roger Henley

Roger was born in Pulaski, Virginia and graduated from Carroll County High School. He and his wife, Carolyn were married in 1973 and live in Hillsville. Roger served in the United States Army Reserve from 1971 to 1977. He has worked at Burlington Industries from 1971 until they closed in 1992, at Ginger’s Jewelry as assistant manager and jeweler and at Micrometrics for 15 years. After the closure of Micrometrics, he worked at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Vogler Funeral Home in Winston Salem. He also worked at and retired from BE Aerospace in 2018. Roger is a member of Skyview Missionary Baptist Church and has enjoyed working at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady part time since April of 2019.
