Zana Spencer Stone, age 71, of Wythe County, passed peacefully after a long courageous battle with cancer, on January 16, 2022, with her husband by her side. She was born on September 11, 1950 in the home she was raised. The daughter of Charles Lee Spencer and Glenia Spencer Shelton who both preceded her in death.

A local graduate of Fort Chiswell High School in 1968, never leaving her roots, she married and built a home behind her homeplace to begin expanding her family. She was a stay-at-home mom for five years. As her children grew, she began to work at AT&T, until the company closed. Continuing to help better her family's finances, she went to work with her sister at Hutchinsins until retirement.

Those left to cherish her memory include her life companion of 52 years, Kenneth Marvin Stone; deceased brother, Kenneth Darrell "Jim" Spencer; deceased brother, Curtis Howard Spencer and living wife Bonnie Allen Spencer; sister, Janice Spencer Sutherland and husband, Ted; sister, Lowetta Spencer Parnell and husband, Junior; son, Kenneth "Brian" Stone and wife, Regina "Lynn" Stone; daughter, Kristy Stone Harless and husband, John; son, Darren Charles Stone and wife, Jessica White Stone; grandchildren, deceased Cody Zarek Stone, Cailee Stone Shipwash and husband, Matt, Madison Danielle Stone, Braden Darek Stone, Daniel Eugene Stone, and Ella Grace Stone; great-grandchildren, Mason Wyatt Shipwash and Harper Kynley Shipwash; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Elder Ronnie Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Charity Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
