Yvonne Williams Johnston, age 78 of Hillsville, passed away on October 21, 2022. She was born July 14, 1944 in Martinsville, VA to Pete and Isabella Williams. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Johnston; grandson, Austin Johnston; and son-in-law, Mark Ryan.

She worked for many years at the Southwest Virginia Training Center.

Yvonne is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rusty (Mitzi) Johnston of Floyd; daughter, Yvette Ryan of Covington, VA; four grandchildren, Nikki (Patrick) Somers, Sean Ryan, Megan (Avery) Payne, and Harley Johnston; four great-grandchildren, Ruthie Mae, Charlie, Jakobe, and Maddie; brother, Micky Williams; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda (Tom) Powell and Carolyn (Robert) Gauldin; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:00 PM with Pastor Leonard Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
