Wilma Hicks Shockley of Hanging Tree Road, Hillsville, Virginia passed away Thursday night, August 5, 2010.  She was born February 23, 1920 in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Joseph Perry Hicks and Edna Cochran Hicks.  Mrs. Shockley was the last surviving member of her Hicks Family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Perry and Edna Cochran Hicks; her sisters: Mrs. Ethel Hicks Staples, Mrs. Betty Hicks Henley, Mrs. Eria Hicks Stout and her brothers: Mr. Harless Perry Hicks and Mr. Orben Ray Hicks.  Mrs. Shockley was also preceded in death by her husband, Clerin Eugene (Whitey) Shockley, her eldest daughter, Mrs. Judith Ann Shockley Parsons of Jacksonville, Florida and a granddaughter, Ms. Tracey Lynn Bolt Lott also of Jacksonville, Florida.

Wilma Hicks Shockley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie Jo Shockley Ross and Dale R. Ross, her son, Eugene Gray Shockley and grandchildren, Patrick David Ross and Katherine Elizabeth Ross, all of Hanging Tree Road, Hillsville, Virginia.  Mrs. Shockley is also survived by grandchildren from Jacksonville, Florida, Mrs. Susan Yvonne Bolt DeVoe, Mrs. Regina Ann Bolt Smith and Mr. Randy Jacobs.

Mrs. Shockley was a sixty-year member of the original Dalton Hill Christian Church that her family helped to establish and located at Coon Ridge Road in Hillsville, Virginia.

Mrs. Shockleys family will receive family and friends during the visitation at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Chapel, 1035 North Main Street, Hillsville, Virginia, telephone number (276)-728-2041 on Saturday night, August 7, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

The funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon, August 8, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Chapel in Hillsville, Virginia with the Rev Dr. John Dunstan officiating.

Interment will follow the service and will be in the Dalton Hill Cemetery, Old Coon Ridge Parkway, Hillsville, Virginia.
