Willie Lee Montgomery, 81 of Shallotte, NC and born and raised in Carroll County, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Southport Hospice in North Carolina after a long battle with cancer.

Willie was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle V. Montgomery; father, Lincoln Montgomery; wife, Zeta Faye Beason; brothers, Al Montgomery and Hobie Montgomery; and sister Vera Montgomery.

Willie is survived by his daughter, Kathy Montgomery; granddaughter, Whitney Montgomery; grandson, Christopher Montgomery; brothers, Arnold Montgomery (Nancy), Harold Montgomery (Faye), Ted Montgomery (Pat), and Donald Montgomery (Joan); sisters, Elsie V. Montgomery, Norma Abrams (Michael), and Nora Ashford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Willie was an Army Veteran and served our country in France for two terms.  Wille and Zeta Faye also served the Town of Hillsville, VA as Jailor, operated the Hillsville Diner, and ran the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Gary Horton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Dry Pond Cemetery.  Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
