William D. Watson, 80, passed away on February 28, 2009 at his residence. He is preceded in death by his parents Elijah and Lora Sutphin Watson; brothers David Watson and Russell Watson; and sister Mary Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Horton Watson of the home; brother and sister-in-law Glen & Peggy Watson of Hillsville; sister Stella Hayes of Dublin; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; and two special great-great nieces Brooklyn Alley and Cameron Edmonds. Mr. Watson was a master mason with the Hillsville Masonic Lodge 193 AF & AM; who will perform Masonic Rites at the service.

The funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Vaughan Guynn McGrady Chapel, with Pastor David Bays and Bishop Randall Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 2, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
