William Cecil Phelps known as "Billy The Blacksmith", age 73 of Woodlawn, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Northern Regional Hospital.  Mr. Phelps was born in Forsyth County, NC to the late Otis Clayton and Lucy Hall Fearington Phelps.

Billy enjoyed a long life of fishing, hunting and rolling his "baccor" with a hot cup of coffee.  He was a farrier and blacksmith by trade, but a true cowboy at heart.

Survivors include his children, Caroline Elizabeth Phelps (Spencer Michael Collins) and William Cody Phelps (Brittney Alice Sumner); grandchildren, Axel Clyburn, River Phelps, Cora Collins, Lelia Collins, and Stetson Collins; sister, Linda Phelps Meadows; and nieces, Robin Meadows and Michelle Kennedy (Bobby).

The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Sunday, February 25, 2024 beginning at 3:00 PM.  A private burial will be held in the family cemetery.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
