William Edward Horton, 95 of Hillsville, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at his home.  Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Nita M. Horton; children, Robin Horton Homesley (Scott Homesley), Christopher Mauck, Shannon Mauck (Erina Mauck), and April MacMackin (Carl Freeman); beloved grandchildren, Thomas Mauck, Nicholas Homesley (Tawny Homesley), Jeremy Homesley (Ashley Demar), Surekha Horton, Elisa Homesley Posthauer (Alex Posthauer), William Horton, McKinley Mauck, Madison Mauck and Kirsten Boe; and four beautiful great-grandchildren, James, Blake, Roan, and Everett.

Mr. Horton was born in Fancy Gap, Virginia to the late Hasley Barnard and Helen Peterman Horton.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette Dickens Horton; son, Michael Horton; brother, Barnard Horton; and sisters, Erna Ruth Parnell and Shirley Cole.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Hillsville at 2:00 PM with Mr. Dennis Ward officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
