William (Bill) White, 84 of Galax, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at his home. Mr. White was born in Carroll County to the late James and Jane White. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother Roy White and sisters Irene Ross and Stella Combs. Mr. White is survived by his wife Marie B. White of the home; daughter & son-in-law Nancy White and James Wallis of Radford; step granddaughter Rebecca Lynn Wallis of Blacksburg; brothers & sister-in-law Nelson White of Manassas, John and Sonia White of Manassas, Roger White of Martinsville and Charles White; sisters & brother-in-law Pauline Frye of Low Gap, NC, Catherine Felts of Galax and Betty & Ron Huyser of Wyoming, Michigan; sisters-in-law & spouse Dessie White of Galax and Martha & Ernest Martin of Hillsville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 7:30 PM with Rev. Ronald Kronk officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday night beginning at 6:00 PM, lasting until service time. Burial will be held on Friday, August 15, 2008 at Monta Vista Memory Gardens at 10:00 AM. The family says that flowers would be appreciated; however donations may be made to Fairview Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
