William Randolph Alger, 74 of Hillsville, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026 at his home. Mr. Alger was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Samuel and Claudine Alderman Alger. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Alger; and brothers, Haeston Alger and Ralph Alger.

William enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Since his youth, he has always loved being outdoors.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Fay Alger; sisters-in-law, Alice Alger and Ann Wade (Ray W. Wade, Sr.); nieces, Valeri Robinson, Carolyn Yvonne Alger, and Shelley Alger; and nephews, Bobby Alger and Greg Alger.

A graveside service with inurnment will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at the Kermit Quesenberry Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Bobby Alger officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kermit Quesenberry Cemetery Fund c/o Fay Alger, 306 Lovell Road, Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
