Willadean Nester McAlexander

Willadean McAlexander of Meadows of Dan went to join her Lord and her beloved husband, Roy, on June 13, 2026. She was born to Raymond and Lila Hardy Nester on June 25, 1936 in Carroll County. She was so proud that she was turning 90 this year but missed it by 12 days. However, she has been telling everyone she was 90 years old since last July.

She was a long-time employee of Meadows of Dan Food Market, retiring in 2007. She and Roy owned the Market for a while. She was active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Meadows of Dan EHC.

She was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband of 67 years, Roy McAlexander and also two brothers-in-laws, Elmo McAlexander and Delmon Nester.

Left to survive Willadean are her 4 children: Sue Perigen, Patsy Harrell (David), Benton McAlexander (Tammy), and Janice McAlexander. Four grandchildren: Dennis Harrell (Shannon), Rachel Harrell (Doug Wasson), Brandon Perigen (Megan), and Jamie Perigen (John Belshan). Her precious great grandchildren: Cora Van Stuphin, Dorsie Harrell, Dawson Harrell, and Hudson Perigen. Sister in laws: Rogene Nester and Eunafaye McAlexander. A neice, Debra Nester and a nephew, David Nester (Janet).

Funeral services for Willadean are planned for Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 2pm at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville with Pastors John Franklin and Howard Nester officiating. Visitation will be from 1pm to 2pm at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the McAlexander Cemetery on Widow Drive in Meadows of Dan. Donations may be made to the VFW 8467 or the Meadows of Dan Fire Department in lieu of flowers. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
