Welcher Dalton, 85 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Dalton was born in Carroll County on November 7, 1922 to the late Albert and Mary Jennings Dalton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Alvilda Worrell; and brothers Ray Dalton, Troy Dalton and Chester Dalton. Mr. Dalton was a Veteran of World War II and was honored with three Purple Hearts. He is survived by his wife Helen Thomas Dalton of the home; daughter Lois Cyr of Hillsville; sons & daughters-in-law Ronnie & Connie Dalton of Marion, Leon Dalton of Hillsville and Wesley & Lisa Dalton of Hillsville; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dale Akers and Rev. Norman Goad officiating. Burial will follow in the Branscome Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
