Wayne Stockner, 69 of Max Meadows, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2008 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Stockner was born in Carroll County to the late Walden & Minnie Hill Stockner. He is survived by his wife Nancy Jones Stockner of the home; son & daughter-in-law Robert & Missy Stockner of Stafford, VA; daughters & sons-in-law Karen Stockner & Tommy Nichols of Evington, VA and Myra Stockner & Rick Basham of Ft. Worth, TX; brother Gerald Stockner of Hillsville; sisters Guida Preston of Fancy Gap, Virgie Lyle of West Jefferson, NC and Glenda Matherly of Sandy Level, VA; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Elder Eddie Lyle officiating. Burial will follow in the Stockner Cemetery. The Virginia State Police Honor Guard will be acting as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
