Walter Herbert McGrady, 87 of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. McGrady was born in Carroll County to the late Richard Hobart and Myrtie Ellen Dickerson McGrady. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Clayton McGrady and Jack McGrady.

Survivors include his wife, Vesta Webb McGrady of the home; daughters, Carolyn Frost of Galax and Gail McGrady of Hillsville; sisters, Hulen Banks and Bonnie Vass both of Hillsville and Nancy Goad of Willis; brother, L.D. McGrady of Dugspur; three grandchildren, Brooks Edwards, Bobbie Watson, and Christy Wheatley; and four great grandchildren, Peyton Edwards, Luke Watson, Emily Edwards, and Clay Edwards.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bobby Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Memory Gardens. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
