W.C. Lyon, Jr., 97 of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 at Commonwealth Senior Living.  Mr. Lyon was born in Carroll County to the late Willie Cassell Lyon, Sr. and Virginia Lyon.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Velma Dalton Lyon; daughter, Bobbie Jo Pillmore; granddaughter, Jessica Pillmore; and siblings, Earl Lyon, Donald Lyon, Freeda Beamer, Maxine Utt.

Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Jones (Dwight); grandchildren, Mark Jones (Dana), Jeff Jones (Joy), Daniel Jones (Jessica), and Rose Anne Pillmore; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Marie Melton.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Pastor Monika Hunter officiating.  A burial will follow in the North End Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to the service.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
