Vista Wilson Alderman, 91 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Alderman was born in Galax, Virginia to the late Bernard Wilson and Geneva Wilson Beamer. Vista had a bachelor's degree from Radford University and taught school in Carroll County for 35 years. Her hobbies included gardening, quilting, canning and loving on all her babies. Mrs. Alderman was a long-time member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, as well as a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alderman was also preceded in death by her son, Nelson Alderman; daughter, Donna Surratt; and brothers, Edwin Wilson and James Beamer.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Kenneth Clyde Alderman of the home; sister, Alma (City) Hammond of Salem; daughter-in-law, Patricia Melton Alderman of Vinton; son-in-law, Gary Steven Surratt of Hillsville; sisters-in-law, Helen Burcham Beamer of Hillsville and Hazel Howell Wilson of Wytheville; grandchildren and spouses, Amy and Paul Hash of Hillsville, Alena and Shane Spangler of Hillsville, David Alderman of Vinton, and Matthew and April Surratt of Hillsville; six special great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many special caregivers.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Shiloh United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ray Bolen and Rev. Dina Clower officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church 1583 Coon Ridge Road, Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
