Virginia Hazel Payne, 86, of Max Meadows, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows. Mrs. Payne was born in Wythe County to the late James and Carrie Maggie Martin Swecker. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband James Harvey Payne and a daughter Deborah Yvonne Walton. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Carolyn and Carl Collin Wright of Wake Forest, NC and Lois Aker of Oak Ridge, NC; son-in-law Robert Walton; sister Sarah Chrisley of Martinsville; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Elder Thomas Pegram and Elder Eugene Gunter officiating. Burial will in the Swecker Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
