Virginia Pauline Goad Dalton, 85, of Dugspur, died August 23, 2008, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital from complications of diabetes. She was born in Carroll County October 7, 1922, to Garrett and Sallie Marshall Goad. Preceded in death in 1996 by her husband, William Clive Dalton, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and William Helton of Fredericksburg; Cecilea and Edward Harper of Newport, Tennessee; a son, William Roland Dalton of Dugspur; five grandchildren and spouses, Scott and Tina Iroler or Dugspur; Monecia and George Taylor and Karen and William L. Helton, Jr. of Fredericksburg; Sharon Harper of Archdale, North Carolina; and Kelly Harper of Winston Salem, North Carolina. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville, 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, with The Reverend Edward Lanning and The Reverend J. Alfred Pinkerton officiating. Interment will follow in the Branscome Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel.
