Violet M. Nester, 90, passed away June 17, 2011 in Williamsburg, Virginia. She was born in the Buffalo Mountain area of Carroll County, Virginia on July 28, 1920 to the late Sam and Cosby Branscome.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Howard C. Nester and brothers, Robert, Henry and James Branscome. Survivors include her son Gary Nester and his wife Cathy Nester of Williamsburg, Virginia; granddaughter, Amber Nester of Williamsburg, Virginia; grandson, Aaron Nester and his wife Ashley Nester of La Jolla, California; and brother Julius Branscome of Woodbridge, VA.

Violet was a resident of Chicago, Illinois for over 28 years where she owned and operated her own beauty salon at the Plymouth Place Retirement Home. Upon retirement in 1984, Howard and Violet retired to their family farm in Laurel Fork, Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, June 24 at Vaughan -Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home, Hillsville, Virginia. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday, June 25 at 11:00 am with Rev. Stewart Childress officiating. Interment will follow at the Nester Cemetery in Laurel Fork, Virginia.
