June 7, 1961 – December 2, 2017
Victoria Leigh Edwards, age 56, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at her home in Salem, VA. Ms. Edwards was born in Hillsville, VA to the late Jim and Violet Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, James Bolt and Carl Delp; sister-in-law, Barbara Edwards; and nephew, Bobby Akers.
Survivors include her brothers and sister-in-law, Glenn Martin Edwards of Jonesborough, TN, Jim Edwards of Statesville, NC and Lewis and Shirley Edwards of Woodlawn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Iva Bolt of Galax, Jane Delp of Fancy Gap, Mary and Tom Fitzpatrick of Newport, NC, Kay and George Slate of Woodlawn, Pat and Larry Akers of Virginia Beach, Nancy and Bill Deady of Fancy Gap, and Bonnie and Greg Koenig of Sherman, TX; nineteen nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; special friends, Denise and Bobby Jones; close neighbors, Sherry and Joe Lavis; and many special friends and colleagues at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital who admired her passion for her work.
Vickie spent her working career caring for respiratory patients and training students at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Her passions included spending time with her family, she was an avid fisherman and loved hiking and reading Sharyn McCrumb novels. She loved Tybie Island in Georgia as well.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Gladesboro Lutheran Church at 1:00 PM with Pastor Joann Bunn officiating. Burial will be in the Quarry Memorial Cemetery in Fancy Gap. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or gifts in memory of Victoria Leigh Edwards may be made to the Jefferson College Education Foundation online at

or by mail to Jefferson College Education Foundation, 101 Elm Avenue, SE Roanoke, VA 24013 in support of a scholarship established in her name at the college.
