Obituary

Vernon Matherly, 85 of Willis, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Matherly served in WWII as a Sergeant of the United States Army. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Margaret T. Matherly of the home; daughters & sons-in-law Judy M. & Michael Quesenberry of Charlottesville and Joyce S. & Jim John of Roanoke; sisters & brother-in-law Opal Jones of Christiansburg and Ruby & Sammie Phillips of Willis; and grandsons Jim Shaver Jr. & fianc Debbie Huff of Roanoke and Benjamin Shaver & wife Paige of Charlotte, NC.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 10, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville. Rev. Elmon Thompson and Rev. Norman Goad will officiate. Burial will follow in the Turman Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the funeral services on Saturday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Twin County Hospice P.O.
