Verlyn F. Brady, 87 of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at his home. Mr. Brady was born in Carroll County to the late Thomas and Fannie Quesenberry Brady. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses, Arlis Brady, Melvin and Margaret Brady, Donald and Mary Jane Brady, and Lorraine and Frank Nicely.

Brady as he was most known by, loved life, and helping others. Most of all listening, and telling stories with friends, and family around town. He looked forward to Sunday Bible study provided by The First Baptist Church, and for this he and the family are thankful.

He was proud to have served his country in The United States Armed Forces.

Survivors include his son, Kenneth Brady of Centerville; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and James McDonald of Tazewell; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Virginia Brady of Laurel Fork; sister and brother-in-law, Lila and Julius Branscome of Woodbridge; sister-in-law, Lucille Brady of Fancy Gap; grandchildren and spouses, Brennon and Faith McDonald and Courtney and Jeff Murray; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Rayton Puckett officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115 P.O. Box 1952 Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Brady family.
