Velva Modine Dalton, 93 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at her home. Mrs. Dalton was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Emmons and Lura Dalton Nester. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Rush Dalton; son, Emory Dalton; grandson, Ernest Russell Dalton; and brother, Avery Redale Nester.

Survivors include her children, Donna Brooks and Michael Berger, Clarence Dalton, Jr. and Alice Dalton, and Debra Dalton; sister, Delores Carter, grandchildren, Giles Nelson Brooks, Cetta Hancock, Dominic Sotile, Craig Berger, B.J. Watkins, and Jennifer Melton; great-grandchildren, Russell Brooks, William Edmonds, Dylan Link, Haylea Link, Case Melton, Pippah Hancock, Abel Hancock, and Emorsyn Melton; and great-great-grandchildren, William Blake Edmonds.

Graveside services and burial will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Jennings Cemetery at 11:00 AM with Pastor Theron Phillips officiating. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
