Velma "Janie" Jane Spencer Adams, 78 of Max Meadows, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Adams was born in Wythe County to the late William Harless and Lizzie Myrtle Spencer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Lynn Carpenter Webb; granddaughter, Heather Nicole Webb; stepson, Todd Martin Adams; and brothers, Richard Evan Spencer and Danny "Whitrock" Carl Spencer.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Lee Adams; daughter, Linda Gayle Carpenter Richards and Don Green, II of Max Meadows; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley (Cheryl) and Elden Shupe of Hillsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elmo and Brenda Spencer of Max Meadows and Russell and Tina Spencer of Max Meadows; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Ryan Mills and Dr. Lawrence Childs officiating. Burial will follow in the Charity Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse P.O. Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
