Velma Martin Franklin, 90, of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, September 03, 2015 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows. Mrs. Franklin was born in Carroll County to the late David and Minnie Montgomery Martin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Grover Franklin. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Ann Franklin of Hillsville; daughter and son-in-law, Frieda and Donald Worrell of Hillsville; brothers and sister-in-law, David Martin, Jr. of Hillsville and Steve and Minnie Alice Martin of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren, Amanda Worrell, Crystal Barton, Cynthia Hendrick, and Robin Sutphin; great grandchildren, Aleigha Hendrick, Daniel Smith, Derek Chappell, Jr., Elisha Hendrick, and Peyton Hendrick; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Elmon Thompson and Rev. Norman Goad officiating. Burial will follow in the C.C. Webb Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
