Obituary

Troy Kenny Dalton, 94, of Dugspur, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at his home. Mr. Dalton was born in Dugspur to the late John and Sarah Goad Dalton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Ruby Quesenberry; three brothers; and two sisters. Mr. Dalton was proud to serve in the Army during WWII and landed in Normandy on D-Day. He was a foot soldier, sniper and scout and was awarded many medals, including a Purple Heart. Mr. Dalton spent a year in the hospital after being wounded in the war. He became a sergeant after saving fellow comrades when their sergeant was killed in action. Mr. Dalton was always a Chevy man. He was a loving father, grandfather, and father-in-law and was a Christian who served the Lord. Now he is with the love of his life, Ruby, whom he loved with all his heart. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Anthony McCrary and grandson, Kenny Wayne McCrary all of Cana. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Norman Goad officiating. Burial will follow in the Kermit Quesenberry Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
