Tressie Elizabeth Buckner, 93, of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Golden Living Blue Ridge Nursing Home. Mrs. Buckner was born in Carroll County to the late Herbert Garfield and Aldora Matilda Cox Wright. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Clevie Lefter Buckner; son, Melvin Wayne Buckner; daughter, Patsy Lynn Beasley; brother, Glen Wright; and sisters, Hazel Dalton, Lucy Mabry, Chelsa Marshall and Helen Jennings. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Alice Thomason of Galax; son-in-law, Marvin Beasley; grandchildren and spouses, Angela and Jeff Marshall of Hillsville, Patrick Buckner of Galax, and Tammy Lynn Reece of Hillsville; great grandchildren, Jesse Marshall, Colton Buckner, Brittany Elledge, and Ricky Brooks; and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:00 PM with Pastor Tony Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
