Tom Haynes, 79 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Haynes was born in Carroll County to the late Garl and Lydia Haynes. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Juanita Haynes, Retha Haynes, Marie Worrell, Nellie Horton, Peggy Newman and Leona (Bob) McMillian. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Nellie Victoria Haynes; children, Barbara Haynes of the home, son, Kenneth Haynes and girlfriend, Cat Ogle of Stuart, Shelia Edwards and husband, Ernie, Deloris Goad and husband, Aubrey Don, and Cathy Woodruff and husband, Mickey all of Hillsville; grandsons, Mitchell Woodruff and girlfriend, Ashleigh Utt of Hillsville; Adam Haynes of Stuart, Bradley Goad and girlfriend, Alesia Utt of Hillsville, and Kenley Haynes of Stuart; and many nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Mr. Robbie Vance officiating. Burial will follow in the Haynes Family Cemetery on Wards Gap Road. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until service time. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
