Tina Opal Phillips Gallimore, departed this life to take her place in heaven on September 15, 2008. Her husband, Glenn Dean Gallimore, precedes her in death. Tina is survived by her five devoted children, eldest son, Billy Dean Gallimore and wife Linda, eldest daughter, Sandra and husband L.D. McGrady, Robert Gallimore and wife Karen, youngest daughter, Betty Quesinberry and youngest son, David Wayne Gallimore. She leaves behind, five very caring grandchildren, Greg, Susan, Allen, Philip and Shane and seven beautiful great grandchildren which always brought a smile to her face, Jake, Katherine, Evan, Mason, Kayla, Johanah and Joclyn. A special niece, Ann Howard as well as several other nieces and nephews and many dear friends will also miss her.
Tina was born on December 19, 1920. She grew up on Berrys Creek in Indian Valley, VA. She loved it there and enjoyed going for drives on those backcountry roads visiting with friends and family. She was a hard worker, a wonderful homemaker and loving mother. She always faced her day with a smile. She loved gardening and enjoyed canning and cooking. Nobody ever went hungry at Tinas house. My children still talk about those hot buttered biscuits made from scratch with a helping of homemade applesauce.
She had unwavering faith in her Christian belief. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She was so patient, so kind and so soft spoken. Tina Gallimore had a true HEART OF GOLD. All those that knew her loved her. Blessed was she with a loving family and long and rich life. Cradled with care and encompassed by love we lift her up with heavy hearts.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:00 PM with Rev. Elmon Thompson and Dr. Allen Cherry officiating. Burial will follow in the Gallimore Thompson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 18, 2008 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
