Thurman Gilmer (Mac) McMillan left this earth to be with his Savior on February 16, 2025 at the age of 88.

Mac was born July 3, 1936 in Fries VA to the late George and Mabel Hawkins McMillan.
He is preceded in death by his twin Herman Wilmer McMillan and brothers Bernard McMillan, Alden McMillan and Sister Rebecca McMillan Martin.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 67 years Shirley Sue Montgomery McMillan, Son David McMillan, Daughters Patricia Taylor (Bill) and Reneta McMillan (Pete), 5 Grandchildren, 4 Great-grandchildren, Brother George McMillan (Lucille), Sister Frances Cox and sister in-law Marlene McMillan and several nieces and nephews.

Mac graduated from Woodlawn High School in Woodlawn VA.  He served 6 years in the U.S. Army. He retired from Norfolk Southern after 33 years of employment. He is a member of Lynn Haven Baptist Church in Vinton, VA

Mac was a good example in the service of others from youth group volunteer to offering his handyman skills when needed. Mac enjoyed spending time outdoors on his land, fishing and golfing. He and Sue enjoyed traveling with their many friends from the square dance club and "Cabin Crew."

The family would like to thank Kody Fike, Will Childers, Tracy Overstreet, Beth Shifflett and Carilion Hospice for the great care of Mac in his final days.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home, 1035 North Main St, Hillsville, VA with Dr. Rev. Robert Heatherton officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be at Gardner Memorial Cemetery, Hillsville, VA following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
