Thomas Rudolph Stone, 81 of Max Meadows, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2008 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Mr. Stone was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Hobert & Gertrude Parnell Stone. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Clifton Stone and Ronald Stone. He is survived by his wife Reba M. Stone of the home; daughter & son-in-law Carolyn & Donald Dunford of Max Meadows; sons Thomas Stone, Jr. & fianc Martha Luper of Max Meadows and Pat Stone & wife Lisa of Ft. Chiswell; brother Herbert Stone of Austinville; sisters & brothers-in-law Evelyn & Hubert Rose of Georgia, Virginia & Jack King of Max Meadows, Myrtle & Virgil Peverall of Salem and Bertha & Troy Marshall of Austinville; sisters-in-law Nadine Stone and Goldie Stone; four grandchildren & spouse Brian & Wendy Dunford, Ann Stone, Andy Dunford and Chris Stone; and two great grandchildren Jessalyn Coble and Derek Dunford.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2008 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:00 PM with Mr. Jack King officiating. Burial will follow in the West End Cemetery in Wytheville. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday night from 7:00 until 9:00 PM and at the family home any time.
