Thomas Andy Sawyers, 87 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Northern Regional Hospital. Mr. Sawyers was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Calvin E. and Eulalie F. Bond Sawyers. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Weldon Sawyers, Calvin E. Sawyers, Scioto Hawks, Ovella Easter, and Bessie Sawyers.

Mr. Sawyers was a barber for 39 years. He served in the Korean War in the medic division and was a lifetime member of the DAV and VFW Post 1115. He became a member of Round Knob Missionary Baptist Church in 1962 and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mamie Sawyers of Fancy Gap; son, Thomas Paul and wife, Gwen Sawyers of Fancy Gap; daughter, Rebecca Sawyers of Fancy Gap; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with burial following will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Winford Davis officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Grover King Post 1115. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Webb Skyview Cemetery or to the DAV. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
