Theoa Vass Nester, 83 of Woodlawn, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Hillsville Health and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Nester was born in Carroll County to the late Carbin Posey and Violet Marie Lewis Vass. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Nester.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Michele Nester of Galax; daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Bill Webb; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lewis and Betty Vass of Hillsville and Larry and Charlotte Vass of LaPlata, MD; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and special friends, Regina Goad, Mary June Webb, and Velma Lee.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:00 PM with Elder Lewis Vass and Dr. Larry Vass officiating. Burial will follow in the Goad Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 until 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church 671 Sunny Cove Lane Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
