Thelma Horton Watson, 84, of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at New River Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Watson was born in Virginia to the late Wilford Arnold and Bessie Phibbs Horton. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William D. Watson. Mrs. Watson is survived by her grandchildren and spouses, Joy and Bradley Smith of Lewisville, NC, Crystal and Mark Edmonds of Hillsville, Cameron Edmonds of Hillsville, and Brooklyn Alley, Blayten Smith, Nickolas Smith and Alexa Smith all of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor David Bays and Susan Naff officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
