Sylvia Marie Absten Turner, 74 of Laurel Fork, joined her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at home with her family.

Sylvia was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and precious friend. She dedicated her life to hard work and taking care of all those she loved. Her faith was strong through her battle with cancer. She fought hard with remarkable strength till her last breath. Her impact on each of us was a blessing. She shall forever be in our hearts, and never forgotten.

Sylvia was born in West Virginia to the late Charlie and Gertie Gibson Absten. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Wayne Turner on January 14, 2023. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Genevie Absten Stitley and Reba Absten UnRue and brothers Ronald (Don) Absten and Lee W Absten.

Survivors include daughter, Tammy Lynn Marshall (Matthew Sr.); sons, Gregory Everette Stover (Pam), and Teddy Noel Turner; grandchildren, Jessica Noel Marshall, Matthew Dwayne Marshall (Victoria), Morgan Paige Stover, Gregory Seth Stover, Dylan Elizabeth Beerman, and Tyler Martin Beerman; great grandchildren, Noelyn, Hunter and Christopher Cash (2/1/23);
Sister, Mona Starcher; brothers, Estel (Buck) Absten, Orville (Pete) Absten (Shirley) and many special nieces and nephews

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady chapel at 1:00 pm with Pastors Winston Puckett, Terry McMillan, and Joe Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Turner-Duncan Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 until 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
