Swanson Edwards, 80, of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Edwards was born in Carroll County to the late Brooks and Cora Robinson Edwards. Survivors include his wife, Sue L. Edwards of the home; son, Richard E. Edwards of Fancy Gap; daughter Debbie E. Melton of Hillsville; step granddaughter, Lorie Atwell of Wytheville; step grandson, Bart Melton of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Mary Hundley of Hillsville, Ethel Vass of Galax, and Alma Branscome of Salt Lake City, UT; and two step great grandchildren, Leia Atwell and Bratt Atwell. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Hillsville at 2:00 PM with Pastor Michael Shockley and Dr. Lawrence Childs officiating. Burial will follow in the Worrell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
