Susan Nester Underwood, 81 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2007. Mrs. Underwood is survived by her husband Peerless Underwood of the home; sons & daughters-in-law Larry Underwood & friend Rhonda Ryerson of Hillsville, Billy Underwood of Hillsville, Butch & Marie Underwood of Alum Ridge, VA, Ronnie (Sampson) & Robin Underwood of Meadows of Dan; daughters & sons-in-law Linda & Pierce Lovell of Floyd, Brenda Burnett of Bryson City, NC and Nora & Paul Martin of Hillsville; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; special caregivers April Largen, Dr. John Tracy and Mary Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dewey Felts and Pastor Howard Nester officiating. Burial will follow in the Underwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday night at the funeral home.
