It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Gertrude Sitterly, 69, of Galax, VA on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. Susan was born on May 23, 1954 in Cooperstown, NY to Joseph and Clara Meade Orlando.

Susan was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Arthur E. Sitterly, for 48 years. She was a wonderful mother to her sons, Michael W. Sitterly and Shawn B. Sitterly (Karen), and a loving grandmother to Sarah E. Deraes (Riley), Michael T. Sitterly (Dominique), Jasmine A. Sitterly, and Hailey C. Sitterly. She was also a great grandmother to Persephone Sitterly.

Susan was a strong and caring person who always put others first. She treasured her family and friends and was loved by many.

A private graveside service was held Friday, June 2nd at 11AM.

The family would like to thank Blue Ridge Home Health, Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, and Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their support in her final years.

Susan will be remembered for her selfless acts of kindness, her strength, and her unconditional love. She was a light in the lives of those who knew her and will be deeply missed.
