Stuart Scott "Petey" Vass, 49 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015. Petey was born in Galax on January 5, 1966. He was preceded in death by his father, James Posie Vass, Sr. and brothers, Terry "Tiny" Vass and Jimmy Vass, Jr.. Survivors include his sons, Gregory Vass and Shane Vass both of Hillsville; mother, Bonnie McGrady Vass of Hillsville; sisters and brother-in-law, Debra Vass of Galax, Donna Joyce of Hillsville, and Diane and Mike Wiggins of Galax; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Jan Vass of Hillsville; and several nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Elder Lewis Vass and Elder Jerry Nester officiating. Burial will follow in the Nester Cemetery in Laurel Fork. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
