Stanley Marvin Quesenberry, of Dugspur, went to be with the Lord and Savior on November 6, 2009. Born August 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Asa and Alma Quesenberry. He was preceded in death by his wife Clessie Marie Quesenberry, an infant son James Marvin Quesenberry, sisters Lessie Cox, Gardie Roop, Joanne Edmonds, and brothers Vivian A. Quesenberry and Nelson Quesenberry.
He is survived by his children, son Ronald N. Quesenberry and wife Evelyn of Roanoke, Va., and daughter Deborah Bratton and husband, John of Dugspur, Va.; sisters, Verna Long of Blacksburg, Va. and Aretta Peters, of Floyd , Va.; and brothers, Melvin Quesenberry of Harrisonburg, Va., and Russell Quesenberry and wife Pat of Tavares, Florida.
Also, two grandsons: Capt. Travis Quesenberry and wife Sarah of Roanoke, Va. and Daniel Jones of Blacksburg, Va. Two granddaughters: Julie Payne and husband Ken of Salem, Va., and Kimberly Quesenberry Davis and husband Jeff of Gainesville, Va.
Also, four great grandsons: Andrew and Ryan Quesenberry, Christian Smith and Richard Davis II, and several nieces and nephews.
Stanley was a long time member of Calvary Bible Church were he served as deacon for many years. He retired from Hercules Incorporated after 27 years. He was a 21-year member of the Dugspur Rescue Squad, serving as chaplain and EMT. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Hillsville VFW Post 1115.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 8, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville. Interment will follow at Marshall Cemetery in Dugspur, with Military Rites conducted by Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends from 12:30 Sunday until 2 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Joy Ranch Home for Children P.O. Box 727 Hillsville, VA 24343 and Dugspur Rescue Squad P.O. Box 44 Dugspur, VA 24325.
