Solomon Hawks, 91 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2009 at home. Mr. Hawks was born in Fancy Gap to the late Floyd & Martha Elizabeth McCraw Hawks. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Scioto Hawks; son James Olen Hawks; step-daughter Herma Hawks; six brothers; four sisters; and grandson Barry Odell Horton. Mr. Hawks is survived by his children Beatrice Oleane Horton & husband Garnett of Woodlawn, Solomon Allan Hawks & wife Treva of Mount Airy, NC, and Jacob Floyd Randall Hawks & wife Sue of Fancy Gap; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a special caregiver.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Skyview Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Pastor Winford Davis and Rev. Kenneth Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb-Skyview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Wednesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
