Silas Ray Sowers 81, of Hillsville, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife Opal Sowers; son Donnie Ring; parents Jedda B. & Edith Alderman Sowers. He is survived by daughter & son-in-law Tina & Steve Young of Hillsville; two sons & daughter-in-law Tim Sowers of Woodlawn, and Larry & Lori Ring of Hillsville; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Edward Richardson and Pastor Harvey Carico officiating. Burial will follow in the Freemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 25, 2010 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
