Sidney Edward Alley, age 81, formerly of Dublin, VA, died on February 3, 2009 at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, MD. Born in Carroll County, VA, he was the son of the late Sebert and Leanna Shockley Alley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Military.

Mr. Alley is survived by one sister, Lula Earlene Alley of Abingdon, MD; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Claude, Elmer, and Ray Alley; and two sisters, Hazel Brennan and Elva Singleton.

Friends may call at McComas Funeral Home, P.A., Abingdon, Maryland on Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 10-11 a.m. Services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. There will also be a funeral service on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville, Virginia at 11:00 AM with Pastor Russell Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Memory Gardens in Galax, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service
