Sidney Allen Akers, 84, of Hillsville passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Twin County Regional Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe Allen and Bessie Bullion Akers. Survivors include his wife, Annie Ilene Akers of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Ila Faye and Caleb Glick of Hillsville; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kathy Akers of Hillsville; grandchildren and spouses, Patrick and Donna Neal, Matthew and Stacy Akers, Adam and Jennifer Akers, Andrew Akers and Fiancé Tia Austin, Linda Chrisley and Nelson Rector, and Kayla and Nick Dixon; step grandchildren and spouses, Mervin and Leanna Glick, Susan and Mike Wells, Carman and Timmy Grove, and Julia and Peter McCarthy; three great grandchildren and twelve step great grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Bobby Akers, Howard Akers, and Dale and Faye Akers; sisters, Betty Lineberry, and Eujeanie Burnette. Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Victory Way Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Akers and Pastor Mike Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Akers Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Victory Way Baptist Church. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Akers family.
