Shirley Burnette Ward, 76 of Hillsville passed away Saturday July 14, 2007 at her home. She was predeceased by her parents George & Georgia Perkey Burnette, three sisters Robin Burnette, Louise Collier, Bonnie McKinney and one brother Beverly Burnette. She is survived by her husband W. Dale (Pete) Ward of the home, daughter & son-in-law Pam & Joe Collins, Franklin, NC, brother & sister-in-law Richard & Ancie Burnette of Pulaski sister & brother-in-law Barbara & Olen Marshall of Pulaski, and three grandchildren Ward, Hobe, and Sara Frances Collins. Mrs. Ward is also survived by several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday July 17, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist in Hillsville, with the Rev. Ty Harrison, & Rev. Ronnie Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday July 16, 2007 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Ward will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
