Shirley Akers Parker, 57 of Galax, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at her home. Ms. Parker was born in Welch, WV to the late Edward Posey and Reba Fields Akers. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Parker of Fries; son Anthony Parker of Charlotte, NC; brothers John E. Akers of Walcott, CT, Willard L. Akers of Raven, VA, Luther R. Akers of Hillsville, Roy D. Akers of Coalwood, WV and Troy G. Akers of Princeton, WV; sisters Mary M. Bellamy of Bervard, NC, Nita R. Stewart of Clearwater, FL, Wanda S. Altizer of Baywood, and Donna J. Lambert of Roanoke, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

Services with entombment following will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Princeton, WV on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 1:00 PM. There will be no visitation.
