Sansford Sam Semones

Sansford Robert “Sam” Semones, 86 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Monday, May 11th, 2026 at his home. Mr. Semones was born in Carroll County, Virgina to the late Rev. George Andrew and Verlie Edith McMillian Semones. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son, Sansford Ray Semones; brothers, Lansford Semones and Glen Wood Semones; and brother-in-law, Bobby Fariss.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Lyndell Lyons Semones; children, Daniel Semones and Marsha Reid (David); grandchildren, Christian Patton (Patrick), Jacob Semones (Emily), Matthew Semones (Amanda), and Daniel Ray Semones-Thrift (Dustin); two great-grandchildren; sister, Shelby Fariss; sister-in-law, Wanda Semones; special friend, Al Sonnay; and grand dog, Little Bit.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Rome Baptist Church at 12:00 PM with Pastors Terry McMillan and Scotty Bullins officiating. Burial will follow in the Worrell Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. The family would like to express a special thank you to Medi Hospice and their staff for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home or the family to go toward funeral cost. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
