Samuel T. Ryan, 72 of Austinville, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Ryan was born in Wytheville to the late Joseph Thomas Ryan, Sr. and Virgie Ruth Richardson Ryan. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son Eldridge Scott Ryan and a sister Katherine Ogle. Mr. Ryan is survived by his wife Elsie Jennings Ryan of the home; sons & daughters-in-law Michael T. Ryan of Austinville, Mark & Yvette Ryan of Austinville, and Brendan R. & Annett R. Ryan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother Joseph Thomas Ryan, Jr. of Pulaski; five grandchildren Nikki Ryan, Sean Ryan, Megan Ryan, Keely A. Ryan, and Alexander B. Ryan; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Mr. Jimmy Canup and Mr. Mitchell Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Beasley Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
