Samuel Ayers, 67 of Woolwine, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the VA Medical Center in Salem. Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by his parents Arless & Mary Velen Pugh Ayers; a son James Robert Ayers; a sister Mae Imogene Ayers Allen and a brother Roger Kenneth Ayers. He is survived by his son Samuel Joseph Ayers of Hillsville; daughter Sarah Lynn Ayers of Arlington; sisters & brother-in-law Dorothy Lee Ayers Senter of Level Cross, NC and Annie Marie Ayers & David Haynes, Jr. of Cana; brother & sister-in-law Cecil Norton and Dawn Lawson Ayers of Woodlawn; and special friends Vicki Anderson and Jimmy Hamby.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Marion officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb-Sky View Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 4, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
