Ryan Rakes, 33 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018. Mr. Rakes was born in Galax, Virginia on September 20, 1984. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Garnett Lewis Rakes, Eldon Horton, and Arlene Horton and an aunt, Vicky Rakes.

Survivors include his father, Garnett Lee Rakes of Fancy Gap; mother and spouse, Faye and Larry Stoneman of Kernersville, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Jennifer Rakes of Galax; sister, Rachel Rakes of Hillsville; grandparents, Irene Rakes of Hillsville and Sandra Horton of Fancy Gap; nephews, Tyler and Chanson Rakes of Galax; uncle and aunt, Gary and Susan Horton of Fancy Gap; and cousins, Laura Horton and Audra Horton.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Hillsville Pentecostal Holiness Church at 3:00 PM with Pastor Jeff Pickett and Rev. Gary Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
